   ASME is a not-for-profit membership organization that enables collaboration, knowledge sharing, career enrichment, and skills development across all engineering disciplines, toward a goal of helping the global engineering community develop solutions to benefit lives and livelihoods. Founded in 1880 by a small group of leading industrialists, ASME has grown through the decades to include more than 100,000 members in 140+ countries. Thirty-two thousand of these members are students.

American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) was founded in the year 1880 by a small group of leading industrialists in America. Now, it has grown up to be a very large professional body with more than 140,000 members in 151 countries worldwide. More than 30,000 of these members are students. It is a non-profit membership professional organization. Though it started off as a purely mechanical engineering professionals group, these days, it comprises of a wide spectrum of professionals from various positions and areas in the industry.

The students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, ICET are setting out on a new venture to redefine limits through the ASME Student Section. This student body was formed in the academic year 2018-2019. It was inaugurated on 02 April, 2019, Monday at the College Auditorium, Main Block, and ICET by the Mr. Jose P. Philip (Chairman, Indian Institute of Welding) and its website launch. The above was also witnessed by Principal, Chairman, HOD Dept. of Mechanical Engineering and other staff members of the institution.

 

 

This student club comprises of undergraduate students majoring in Mechanical Engineering in the hopes of enhancing their technical competency and professional wellbeing through training, activities, competitions, workshops, seminars, conferences, etc. in Mechanical Engineering.

The Student Section is currently under the strong leadership and guidance of Mr. Kiran Vijayan(Assistant Professor and ASME Student Section Advisor). Under whom, the section is propelling with a great pace into the future. The student section currently has strength of 57 pupils and is chaired by Mr. I Hamit Mohammed. Our former SSA was Mr. Hilal P V and thereafter Dr.Jobin Varghese. Both of them laid a path for the students section in ICET.
