The Department offers undergraduate programmes in B.Tech. Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI&DS) and B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering (Cyber Security) under the affiliation of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. The Programmes started in the year 2021 under the department of Computer Science and Engineering and started to function as a separated department in the year 2022.

Today’s competitive era demands creativity and innovation to be imbibed in the professionals at the under graduate level. The Department has adopted modern practices to enrich the thought process of students with creativity and innovation. The goal of the department is to nurture the academic as well as personal excellence of our students by providing student centric learning, industry exposure and outstanding career opportunities.

Backbone of the department comprises a crew of well experienced, highly qualified and dedicated team who are always enthusiastic to update their knowledge. The department aims to buildup a community where the actionable insights and cutting-edge technology turn into innovative products towards solving real-world problems.

PEO 1: Establish the graduates with strong foundation skills in Al and Cyber Security domains and foster them as good problem solvers and critical thinkers.

Program Outcome

PO 1	Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems. (Level 3)
PO 2	Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences. (Level 6)
PO 3	Design/Development of Solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations. (Level 6)
PO 4	Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Use research-based knowledge including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions. (Level 5)
PO 5	Modern Tool Usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations. (Level 6)
PO 6	The Engineer and Society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal, and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice. (Level 5)

Roles and Responsibilities

The Department Advisory Committee interacts and maintains liaison with key stakeholders.

The Department Advisory Committee is chaired by HOD who receives the report of the Department Advisory Committee and monitors the progress of the program.
The committee develops and recommends new or revised goals and objectives of the program.
The committee also reviews and analyzes the gap between curriculum and Industry requirement and gives necessary feedback or advice actions.

Aims and Objectives

Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and Cyber Security Department Association was started in the academic year 2022-2023. It is a platform that aims to boost students’ knowledge while also giving them the opportunity to interact with industry leaders. The association is guided by the faculty coordinator and active throughout the academic year. Association conducts various technical events and workshops in core domains. The Association encourages students to participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities, keeps students and faculty informed about current events and trends, and provides students with the skills to function as effective members of society and the profession with an understanding of the global implications of their work.

It offers sufficient opportunities for students to develop presentation skills, organizational skills, and leadership traits, allowing them to develop their whole personalities. To facilitate and promote creative thinking, leadership skills, artistic talents, cooperation, and coordination among its members, our organization hosts educational seminars, guest lectures, paper presentations, workshops, technical events, and cultural activities.

The CYBIX Lab is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to research and education in cybersecurity and cyber defense. Equipped with advanced technology and tools, the lab provides a secure environment for students and researchers to explore various aspects of cyber security, including network security, cryptography, ethical hacking, and cyber forensics.

AI GEMINI LAB

The AI GEMINI Lab is a cutting-edge facility focused on advancing artificial intelligence and machine learning research. This lab provides a collaborative environment where students, faculty, and researchers can work on innovative projects and explore the frontiers of AI technology.

LINUX LAB

Rudhirasena Orientation Session by Farhana PK

The NSS Unit (1224) of MES College of Engineering and Technology, Kunnukara successfully conducted a Rudhirasena Orientation Class on 12th August 2024 (Monday). The session was held at the Seminar Hall from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.

The orientation was handled by Ms. Farhana PK, who guided and inspired students on the objectives, responsibilities, and importance of joining Rudhirasena – a noble initiative focused on voluntary blood donation and awareness.

The event was organized under the National Service Scheme (NSS) and aimed at creating a responsible and socially aware student community.

Student Project Receives CERD Funding from APJAKTU

We are delighted to announce that our final year B.Tech students Rithu Reji, Thomas Sabu, and Nandana Ravindran of S8 Artificial Intelligence and Data Science have been awarded a financial assistance of ₹29,612 for their innovative project titled:

“Smart Glove for Sign Language Translation and Audio Conversion”
