The Department Advisory Committee interacts and maintains liaison with key stakeholders.
- The Department Advisory Committee is chaired by HOD who receives the report of the Department Advisory Committee and monitors the progress of the program.

- Facilities
Communication Laboratory
The Communication Laboratory is equipped with a comprehensive suite of advanced instrumentation, including microwave and optical benches, oscilloscopes, function generators, and regulated power supplies. This state-of-the-art facility empowers students to bridge the gap between theory and practice, offering hands-on experience and real-time signal analysis across a wide range of communication systems.
Analog Circuits Laboratory
The Analog Circuits Laboratory provides hands-on experience in the design, analysis, and implementation of analog electronic circuits. The lab helps students deepen their understanding of circuit behavior while developing critical problem-solving skills for careers in electronics. Also it supports practical learning in areas such as amplifier design, filter circuits, and signal processing.
Digital Laboratory
The Digital Laboratory is designed to provide students with practical knowledge of digital electronics and logic circuit design. This lab enables students to implement and test different digital circuits. Thus, students gain a solid foundation in digital system design, preparing them to achieve their preferred careers in embedded systems, VLSI, and digital design.
Electronics Workshop
The Electronics Workshop provides students with hands-on experience to reinforce the theoretical concepts learned in class. It is equipped with PCB etching and fabrication facilities, supporting students in developing and prototyping their design projects. Additionally, students get training in screen printing techniques, enhancing their practical skills in electronics manufacturing.
Programming and Simulation Laboratory
The Programming and Simulation Laboratory is a modern facility offering hands-on experience in algorithm development, computational modeling, and simulations. Equipped with advanced infrastructure and industry-standard tools, the lab enables practical learning through real-world projects. Students apply theoretical knowledge in a collaborative environment that fosters innovation and critical thinking.
- Department Association
Electrozone – Association of Electronics and Communication Engineering
‘Electrozone’, the official association of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, was established with the goal of enhancing students’ technical knowledge and connecting academic learning with real-world applications in the field of electronics and communication. The association actively conducted a variety of co-curricular activities including expert lectures, workshops, technical seminars, and interactive sessions aimed at fostering innovation and practical skills.
The association was officially inaugurated by the chief guest Mr. Nomi Paul from Nokia Siemens, Cochin. He delivered a compelling talk on ‘4G Technologies’, providing deep insights into next-generation communication systems. The event also featured a seminar on ‘Recent Trends in Electronics and Communication Engineering” by Mr. Pradheek from Brain Bitz Tech, Cochin, highlighting emerging developments and industry-relevant knowledge.
In 2014, ‘Electrozone’ successfully organized and hosted a national-level technical symposium titled ‘New Trends in Electronics, Computing, and Communication (NTECC)’. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across numerous engineering colleges, making it a remarkable platform for knowledge exchange and technical collaboration.

- “AURA” The Association Day Celebrations
The Departments of ECE and BME, celebrated their Association Day, “AURA” on 12th February 2025, at AB Seminar Hall. The event was a vibrant blend of technical learning, inspiration, and cultural expression. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Farsana Farooq, Project Engineer at Quest Global, who graced the occasion as the esteemed chief guest. She delivered an engaging talk on “Neuromorphic Computing”, highlighting emerging trends and future opportunities in the electronics sector, and offering students a valuable insight into this cutting-edge field.
- Tech Talk on ‘Emerging Trends in Electronics’
As a part of the Industry Expert Sessions organized by ‘Electrozon‘, hosted a Tech Talk on ‘Emerging Trends in Electronics and Future Scope’ on 4th April 2023. The session was handled by Mr. Rajesh R, Joint Director at CDAC, Thiruvananthapuram. He shared valuable insights into the latest advancements and future opportunities in the electronics sector, offering students a broader perspective on the evolving landscape of the industry. The event was further marked by the official release of the Electrozone Newsletter for the academic year 2023–24, unveiled by Mr. Rajesh.
- ‘Tech Talk on ‘5G Technologies’
The activities of ‘Electrozone‘, for the academic year 2022–23 were officially inaugurated on 3rd November 2022 by Mr. Sundar Babu K R, Deputy CTO, Reliance Jio, Ernakulam. As part of the inaugural event, Mr. Sundar Babu delivered an enlightening talk on ‘5G Technologies’, offering students valuable insights into the advancements, applications, and future potential of next-generation communication systems.
- Tech Talk on ‘Emerging Trends in Communication’
‘Electrozone’ organized a technical talk on ‘Emerging Trends in Communication’ on 5th October 2018. The session was led by Dr. K. Francis Jacob, ITS, Principal General Manager, BSNL, Ernakulam, who shared in-depth insights into the latest developments and future directions in the field of communication technology.
- Tech Talk on ‘Hydro Electric Power Stations
‘Electrozone’, conducted a seminar titled ‘Industry Familiarisation’ on 15th February 2018. Mr. Haridas Vijayan, Assistant Executive Engineer, Moolamattom Power Station, delivered a talk on ‘Hydro Electric Power Stations’. The session provided students with practical insights into power generation and hydroelectric plant operations.
Association Activities
Inspirational Session: ‘Let Fame Talk’
‘Electrozone’ organized a thought-provoking talk titled ‘Let Fame Talk’ on 12th April 2019. The session was led by Ms. Anjana Sasikumar, IRS, Assistant Commissioner, GST & Customs. She shared her inspiring personal journey and professional experiences, offering insights into career growth, public service, and self-development. The event served as a valuable platform for students to engage with a distinguished civil servant and gain motivation beyond the classroom.
- Seminar on Cancer Awareness
‘Electrozone’ conducted an informative seminar on ‘Cancer Awareness’ on 20th October 2017. The session was delivered by Dr. P. V. Gangadaran ,Senior Consultant and Head of Medical and Pediatric Oncology at Lakeshore Hospital, who shared key insights into cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment options. The seminar emphasized the significance of health awareness among students alongside their academic journey.

Afeefa C M secured the highest SGPA 9.28, followed by Mohammed Zayed with 8.98, and Fathimathu Sheharban and Albin Joy, both with 8.3. Lecture & Workshop on ‘Anatomy for Biomedical Engineering’
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering & Biomedical Engineering successfully organized a two-day Lecture and Workshop on “Anatomy for Biomedical Engineering” on the 4th and 5th of April 2025, exclusively for Biomedical Engineering students. The sessions were led by Dr. Sajid Jamal, Former Faculty at KMCT Medical College, who provided comprehensive insights into human anatomy. The workshop was designed to address both the academic and practical aspects of anatomy.
Expert Talk on ‘Anatomy & Physiology for biomedical Engineers’
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering & Biomedical Engineering successfully conducted an insightful session on “Anatomy & Physiology for Biomedical Engineers” on 26th March 2025. The talk was delivered by Dr. Hitha George, Consultant Paediatrician at Rajagiri Hospital, offering Biomedical Engineering students a valuable opportunity to strengthen their foundational knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
ICET Alumni Talk on ‘Semiconductor Trends in A.I’
The ICET Alumni Association, in collaboration with the Department of ECE, conducted an Alumni Talk on 21st March 2025 at the AB Seminar Hall. Our esteemed ICET alumnus Mr. Ajith Kurian Issac, Principal IC Design Engineer at Broadcom, USA, led the session. He delivered a talk on ‘Semiconductor Trends in A.I’ and provided students with deep insights into the convergence of AI and semiconductor innovations.
Expert Talk on ‘Harnessing Hydrogen for Sustainability’
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) and Biomedical Engineering (BME) organized a session titled ‘Harnessing Hydrogen for Sustainability’ on March 3, 2025. The event will feature distinguished speakers Dr. Klaus Dirk Herwig, CEO of Hydrogy SE and Professor at RWTH Aachen University, Germany, and Mr. Anandu Krishna Surendran, our alumnus and MSc Sustainability student at the Technical University of Munich, Germany. This initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and aims to promote global academic collaboration and awareness of sustainable hydrogen technologies.
Training program on ‘Robo soccer and war’
Electronics and Communication Engineering department in association with ‘Robotics Club of Ilahia’ conducted a one-day training program on ‘Robo soccer and war’ for students of Ilahia, on 16th April 2024.
Inauguration of the Robotics Club
The Robotics Club at ICET was officially inaugurated by our Chief Guest Mr. Sibilkumar T.B, Scientist at DRDO, Bangalore. As part of the event, he delivered an inspiring and informative talk on “Robotics in Defense,” highlighting the critical role of robotics in modern military applications.
Workshop on Robotics for School Students
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, in association with Electrozone, organized a workshop on ‘Robotics’ for students of Class 12 and below, held from 29th to 31st May 2023. The workshop introduced young minds to the fundamentals of robotics through engaging sessions and hands-on activities.
- Faculty Advisors
Mentor system has been introduced to create a better and effective student-teacher relationship. All teachers work as Mentors to the students allotted to them. The students can reveal their Academic/personal problems to their Mentors freely and frankly.
The following are the role and responsibilities of Mentor system.
- The Mentor should monitor the performance of the students in tests and university examinations and also note their behaviour.
- The students should take the prior permission of the Mentor before they are absent themselves from classes. They have to submit a leave note for the absence for a period / day / days to the Mentor.
- The students will have to meet their Mentor when they are called for.
- The mentor must meet their ward at least once in a month.

- Industrial Visits
The main aim of industrial visit is to provide an exposure to students about practical working environment. In order to bridge the gap between academia & industry, regular industrial training/visits are arranged which give the students a better idea of the current practices & trends in industry, latest developments, career opportunities etc. Faculty members shall accompany the students for the industrial visits/ educational tour and the students are asked to submit a detailed report ofthe training/visit.

- Department Library
The Department Library occupies a unique place in academic activities of the Department. The Library maintains an excellent collection of data books and other documents/materials. We have a rich assortment of more than 250 volumes of text books, associated to all subjects. Library continued in building up its collection by acquisition of new books as per the requirements of the staff members and students of the Department.
Library Rules
- Library will be opened from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm on all working days.
- A student can borrow only three books at a time.
- A book will be issued for a maximum period of 30 days and may be renewed for a maximum of one more time.
- Books may be renewed on the expiry of the due date, provided there is no reservation for the same.
- Access to the library and its services may be suspended to those violating the rules of the library.
- Borrowed books are non-transferable and borrower shall remain responsible for material issued for him / her until the material is returned.
